Stevens Institute of Technology is making significant investments in state-of-the-art campus facilities, consistent with its strategic efforts to advance as a premier, student-centric, technological research university. New, expanded and renovated academic and student life spaces will accommodate a growing student body and faculty. This modern campus environment will further strengthen the university's innovation ecosystem.

Student Housing and University Center

Two residential towers atop a three-story university center will transform the Stevens campus into a modern hub for student life, beginning in the 2021-22 academic year. The towers will accommodate 994 students in on-campus housing; the University Center will provide extraordinary spaces for students, faculty and staff to collaborate, socialize and interact, including new dining venues, a fitness center, coworking spaces and conference facilities.

Additional new facilities include:

  • The Student Wellness Center, a comprehensive, holistic facility for student wellness
  • The Lore-El Center for Women's Leadership, a vibrant living and learning space promoting the growth and empowerment of Stevens women
  • City View Plaza and Babbio Garage, adding 266 parking spaces, bicycle spaces, electric vehicle charging stations and a pedestrian rooftop plaza with spectacular views of New York City

Empowering Teaching, Learning and Research

State-of-the Art Academic Space

Opening in summer 2019, the new 90,000-square-foot academic center will add 11 new classrooms, 45 faculty offices and 13 teaching and research labs for computer science, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and programs in healthcare innovation. The building will include technology-enhanced smart classrooms equipped with advanced learning technologies, specialized software, audience-response technology, and networking and audiovisual capabilities.

100% of classrooms have been upgraded with modern technology

Additional new academic facilities and technology enhancements include:

  • Tools in the state-of-the-art Hanlon Financial Systems Lab power faculty and student inquiry and research; terminals allow undergraduates in Stevens' acclaimed Quantitative Finance program to earn Bloomberg certification.
  • Technology in the Hanlon Laboratory for Financial Analytics and Data Visualization — the same used by IBM Watson — helps students visualize and analyze multidimensional data, giving them the tools to make smarter decisions faster.
  • The ABS Engineering Center features flexible-use space designed to promote research and instructional collaboration across multiple disciplines, from robotics and building materials to maritime craft testing and green technology.
