Alonso, a Stevens graduate, BE 1983, initiated the intercollegiate track & field club program as a student and was instrumental in the sport's elevation to varsity status for the 1998 season. As a student-athlete, Al served as team captain and set a number of event records, several which still stand. After only 2 years of varsity competition, Alonso has produced 16 All Conference athletes as well as 2 ECAC Qualifiers. Coach Alonso is a certified USATF coach and also coaches the men's and women's Cross Country teams at Stevens. He is a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of NJ and holds a Master's degree in Computer Science from Stevens and an MBA degree in Management from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
