Debate On Marijuana Legalization

Marijuana legalization is in extremely hot topic that offers legitimate arguments for both side of the debate. Those that would like to see marijuana legalized argue that it is far less dangerous than both smoking and alcohol, which are both perfectly legal. They also argue that marijuana offers phenomonal medical benefitswhile making overdose impossible and side effects nearly nonexistant. Those that argue against marijuana legalization focus on the fact that marijuana is often a gateway drug to more serious drugs like cocaine and heroin. They also speak of the dangers that those taking marijuana could create while driving, and the tests that have proven that marijuana kills brain cells.

So what side of the marijuana legalization debate will triumph at Stevens? Come to the debate to throw in your argument as well as watch the heated arguments that will undoubtedly insue.

Wharton-Dobbins Debate

After almost two years in office, the American people are experiencing the hope, change, and progress that President Barack Obama spoke of during the election.

Or are they?

Come join the Philosophy Club for the annual Wharton vs. Dobbins debate, a no holds barred battle of the wits between Professor Wharton and Professor Dobbins. This years debate, entitled "Obama: Got Hope? Nope." is sure to create quite a bit of controversy. Make sure you're there to hear the arguments of Professor Wharton and Professor Dobbins, as well as throw in a few arguments of your own!

Come join the Philosophy Club to experience Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind, a thought provoking psychological thriller/romance. In Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind, a couple undergo a procedure to erase each other from their memories when their relationship turns sour, but it is only through the process of loss that they discover what they had to begin with. We invite you to come join the Philosophy Club for what will surely be an excellent movie followed by an equally as excellent discussion.

American Museum of Natural History

The Philosophy Club will be giving a select group of students the oppurtunity to come to the American Museum of Natural History, which hosts a selection of their staggering 32 million items across 25 different buildings in the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Amelie follows the journey of an innocent girl that lives in Paris who has her own sense of justice. Through the process of helping those around her, she ends up discovering love. The Fall

Come join the Philosophy Club for the visual masterpiece that is "The Fall", a wonderful film directed by Tarsem Singh. "The Fall" takes place in the 1920s on the outskirts of Los Angeles, where an injured stuntman befriends a fellow patient at the hospital, a girl with a broken arm. The stuntman tells a story to the little girl about 5 mythical heros, which, along with his fractured state of mind and the girl's vivid imagination, begins to become a metaphor for the reality that the stuntman is experiencing in his own life. Come enjoy this movie with fellow Philosophy Club members; you will not want to miss it.
