In May 2015, Stevens Institute of Technology welcomed Josh Weston, former CEO and chairman of Automatic Data Processing (ADP), for the President's Special Lecture on Leadership. Mr. Weston's lecture, "Lessons on Leadership They Dont Teach You in Class," was both engaging and relevant to current students and senior alumni who have served in leadership roles in corporate America.

Mr. Weston began his career at ADP in 1955, leading the company in a variety of capacities before being named CEO in 1982, a position he served until he retired in 1998. During his long tenure at ADP, the company enjoyed 40 consecutive years of double-digit growth — a remarkable feat by any measure.

Mr. Weston entertained and educated audience members with colorful anecdotes from his storied career. In a series of what he termed "iceberg tips," Mr. Weston shared some of his lessons learned leading one of the nation's most successful corporations. His comments on the importance of personal interactions between CEOs and employees, piloting new programs and effective time management, for example, provided practical strategies that resonated with the audience.

Mr. Weston's insightful discussion on corporate leadership offers a unique perspective that serves to prepare students for careers in the global economy. A recap of Mr. Weston's lecture is available on the Stevens web site.

Stevens will continue to host discussions to advance knowledge about critical subjects in business and technology. Sharmin Mossavar-Rahmani, chief investment officer of the Private Wealth Management Group (PWM) at Goldman Sachs, will be the featured speaker for the next President's Distinguished Lecture, to be held Wednesday, October 7, 2015 on the Stevens campus in Hoboken, New Jersey.
