SELECTED FACULTY HONORS AND ACHIEVEMENTS

Xiaofeng Qian, Physics (SES), was honored by Physics World magazine for his contributions to research that was selected as one of the top 10 breakthroughs in physics of 2021.

Dibyendu “Dibs” Sarkar, Civil, Environmental and Ocean Engineering (SES), is a lead investigator on a multi-institutional team that was awarded $1.3 million by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) for a project aimed at improving water quality in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Paul Grogan (SSE) is serving as principal investigator for the Systems Engineering Research Center’s (SERC) first research task for a NASA sponsor working with the Earth Science Technology Office Advanced Information Systems Technology program.

Dean Gregory Prastacos (SB) was quoted in a Forbes article on continuing education for business leaders.

Susan Schept (CAL) was recently published in Psychological Perspectives. Her article, "Lilith: A Rabbinic Projection of the Demonic Female," considers a figure in Jewish mythology.

Onur Asan (SSE) was awarded a grant from Novartis for his project, “Exploring Nonadherence Factors in Cancer Oral Chemotherapy.”

Jason Corso and Enrique Dunn, Computer Science (SES), along with a multi-institutional team of co-investigators, received a DARPA award of $5.9 million for an artificial intelligence program designed to learn how to guide humans through complex tasks.

Alparslan Emrah Bayrak (SSE) and Antonia Zaferiou, Biomedical Engineering (SES), have been awarded the Catalyst Award in the Global Healthy Longevity Competition by the National Academy of Medicine for their project “A Multi-Sensor Wearable System with a Personalized AI and Multimodal Biofeedback to Improve Balance of Older Adults at Home.”

Lindsey Cormack (CAL), contributed an article on veterans’ representation in Congress to Social Science Quarterly.

George Calhoun (SB) was quoted in a IEEE Spectrum article on the global semiconductor shortage.
