Stevens Update

October 2025 • Hoboken, NJ

Welcome from Vice President Cindy Chin!

Cindy Chin

Dear Colleagues,

I hope the school year is off to a great start for you.

As your students begin thinking seriously about their college choices, I wanted to share a story that captures the spirit of Stevens. Aidan Ouckama, a senior computer science major, turned his early love of coding into a nationwide internship resource that’s helped thousands of students — and even earned him an interview with CNN. His journey from building games on Scratch to joining Microsoft’s Xbox team after he graduates is a powerful example of what happens when curiosity meets opportunity.

This kind of student experience is reflected in our recent results from the 2025 National Student Survey, where Stevens students reported record levels of satisfaction and engagement, especially in academic support, career preparation and campus life.

We also continue to receive questions this time of year about early decision versus early action or regular decision. Early decision is ideal for students with a clear top choice who are confident they will attend if admitted. Generally, admit rates are higher for early decision applicants because of the strength of their application and the smaller applicant pool. If a student is certain they want to come to Stevens, early decision could be a great choice. Admitted students will be eligible for our early decision scholarship, benefit from priority housing and course registration, and enjoy their senior year without worrying about college applications. Our deadlines are as follows:

  • Early Decision 1 deadline: November 15
  • Early Action deadline: December 1
  • Early Decision 2 and Regular Decision deadline: January 5

And thanks to The Stevens Investment, beginning with the incoming class of Fall 2026, we will offer full tuition coverage to first-time, first-year, full-time undergraduate students who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents, and whose families earn $75,000 or less per year and have typical assets, making Stevens more accessible than ever.

Best wishes as you navigate the upcoming application deadlines,
Cindy

Student Insight

Thiago Andrade, Student Ambassador
Computer Science, Class of 2027

I believe that campus tours are important because they allow you to interact with current faculty and students. You get the opportunity to hear from the very same students who you could be going to classes with about their experience. Beyond that, tours help you sense the energy of the community, explore the spaces where you’ll learn and grow, and discover whether the environment feels like a place where you can truly thrive. Schedule your campus visit today and experience it for yourself!

Staff Insight

Kelly Ceccacci, Associate Director of Financial Aid for Student Services and Recruitment

Many believe financial aid is only for those with high need, but all students should apply! Aid includes grants, scholarships, loans and work-study, and eligibility varies. The FAFSA is simpler now, and even higher-income families may need it for school or external aid. Another myth: The financial aid office is intimidating. In reality, we're here to help — answering questions, guiding students through the process and making everything feel manageable and less intimidating.
