Stevens STEM Event Tells Girls to 'Dream Big, Be Different and Have Fun'

At Stevens' fourth-annual Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day at Brensinger Elementary School in Jersey City, Stevens faculty and students shined a light on the remarkable diversity of careers in STEM to more than 200 girls in grades 5 to 8. The event featured faculty presentations, a Q & A session and live demonstrations that involved props such as robots and Jenga blocks.

Goal Setter: Two-Time All-American Julia Panko '20 Balances Class, Co-op and Soccer
Named a Second Team Academic All-American in 2017 and 2018, Stevens scholar-athlete Julia Panko is impressing on all fronts: setting records on the soccer field, maintaining a near perfect GPA, and embarking on a successful career path in chemical engineering at energy giant BP.

Perseverance, Hard Work and Stevens Alumni Network Help Guide Co-op Student's Disney Journey
Mechanical engineering major Sarah Bertussi '21 is currently in the midst of a dream co-op at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, as part of the Disney College Program, an intensely competitive internship program that Bertussi has been working toward since her first year at Stevens.

Stevens Seniors Create Safety Solution to Deter Active Shooters
To help law enforcement shrink the response time to school shootings, an electrical engineering student team from Stevens is designing an Active Shooter Deterrent System (ASAP), a multifaceted surveillance system designed to detect active shootings and reduce the number of casualties.
