Stevens Hits 10,000 Applications, With Notable Increases From Women and Applicants From Underrepresented Groups

More than 10,000 students applied for undergraduate admission to Stevens, a milestone in the university's 149-year history. Applications came from all 50 states and 95 different countries, underscoring Stevens' reach as both a national and global university. Some of the biggest gains were from women and applicants from underrepresented backgrounds, which saw an increase of nearly 20 percent from last year.

IBM-Bound Arts Student Mixes Technology and Tradition in Pursuing Creative Passions
After impressing supervisors at IBM with her web design work during her summer and fall internships, visual arts and technology senior Kelly McGowan accepted a full-time post-graduate position to work as a visual designer in the office of IBM's CIO, responsible for designing the digital tools for IBM employees around the world such as apps and websites.

Quality of Business Education at Stevens Attracts New Scholarship Program Aimed at Increasing Diversity in Finance
Stevens' commitment to diversity and the caliber of its School of Business received a considerable award from the Chicago Mercantile Exchange Foundation, which selected Stevens as one of eight U.S. academic institutions — and the only one outside of Chicago — to establish a scholarship program that will create educational and career opportunities in finance for students from underrepresented backgrounds.

Thanks to the "complete package" of a Stevens education — a curriculum focused on problem-solving, hands-on design projects, great faculty advisors and mentors, and a top-notch career center — the chemical engineering alumna is thriving as an associate engineering specialist at MSD Biotech in Dublin, Ireland. She now wants to "pay it forward" and help other Stevens graduates.
