Dr. Farvardin's Inauguration Ushers in New Era at Stevens
Dr. Farvardin's Inauguration Ceremony took place in a transformed, breathtaking Canavan Arena. The walls were swathed in the Stevens red and gray, a plush carpet covered the floor and the Stevens Orchestra played in the corner.

Dr. Gregory Prastacos Appointed Dean of the Howe School of Technology Management at Stevens
Dr. Gregory Prastacos, Rector and Professor of Management Science at the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB), has been appointed Dean of the Wesley J. Howe School of Technology Management at Stevens.

Stevens Ranks Among Top 20 Universities in the Nation for ROI for Students
Stevens was ranked in the top 3 percent of schools in the nation for annualized net return on investment (ROI), according to the study, "What's Your College Degree Worth?," conducted for Bloomberg BusinessWeek.

Laura Barito Named NCAA Woman of the Year
Stevens graduate Laura Barito was named the National Collegiate Athletic Association Woman of the Year. A two-time NCAA national champ, Barito is the second-ever NCAA Division III student-athlete to win the award.

Professor Cappelleri Receives NSF CAREER Award for Ground-Breaking Work in Microrobotics
Dr. David Cappelleri, assistant professor of Mechanical Engineering, was honored with the CAREER Award from the National Science Foundation (NSF), recognizing his pioneering research on microrobots.

Stevens Selected to Compete in DOE's Solar Decathlon
A Stevens team, "The Learning House," will compete in the 2013 Solar Decathlon, an international competition to build a solar-powered, energy-efficient home that combines affordability, consumer appeal and design excellence.

Stevens Alumnus Sells Company to Oracle for $1.43 Billion
RightNow Technologies, a cloud based customer-service company started by Stevens alumnus Greg Gianforte, was acquired by Oracle for $1.4 billion. The deal closed in January 2012.

Professor Lee Makes Graphene-Based Inkjet-Printed Electronics
Dr. Woo Lee, professor of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science, is advancing printed electronics. His team won the Academic R&D Award at Printed Electronics USA 2011 for combining graphene with precision inkjet printing technologies.

Professor Chen Detects Driver Cell Phone Use to Decrease Accidents
Dr. Yingying Chen, professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, has produced award-winning research to increase safety on the road. Her technology uses an acoustic approach to detect drivers using mobile phones.

Professor Chandramouli Invited to White House Communications Roundtable
Dr. Rajarathnam Chandramouli participated in a discussion on the National Wireless Initiative, announced by President Obama, to develop a strategy to bring 4G wireless broadband access to 98 percent of Americans.
