If there is one thing a snapshot of the Stevens Class of 2023 reveals, it's that there is no one "type" of Stevens student. Stevens Through the Years
Colonel John's, located in the Wesley J. Howe Center, is the go-to place on campus for enjoying a casual meal or satisfying a burger craving. But back when the drinking age was 18 years old in New Jersey, Colonel John's was also the campus bar from the 1970s until 1983. The students affectionately called it "The Rat," which was short for Colonel John's Rathskeller. When the drinking age was raised to 21 in 1983, Colonel John's resumed operation as a regular café serving only non-alcoholic beverages, similar to how we know it today.
