Stevens Through the Years

This year museums around the world will mark the 500th anniversary of Leonardo da Vinci's death with planned exhibitions and special events. A painter, draftsman, architect, inventor, scientist and engineer, the Italian genius, who died May 2, 1519 at age 67, epitomized the Renaissance humanist ideal. At Stevens, his extraordinary legacy can be appreciated at the Samuel C. Williams Library, home to one of the finest accumulations in the Western Hemisphere of prints, manuscripts in facsimile, and books by and about the Renaissance artist and intellectual. This collection was initiated by a donation from John William Lieb, a member of the Stevens Class of 1880 credited with the invention of hydroelectric power plants in their modern form.
