Incoming Class of 2021 Brings Record Enrollment and Greater Diversity
Admissions data about the newly arrived Class of 2021 offers a revealing snapshot of the largest, most diverse group ever admitted to Stevens, one that is richly varied in geography, gender, nationality and academic majors.

Last week, New York and New Jersey rail commuters felt some relief when the "Summer of Hell," brought on by track repairs at New York Penn Station, came to an end. The station, used by Amtrak, NJ Transit and the Long Island Railroad, was once a storied landmark rooted in Stevens technology. In the early 1900s, George Gibbs of the Stevens Class of 1882 was a world-leading electrical engineer who oversaw the construction of Penn Station's superstructure, as well as the electrification of 28 acres of yards underneath. Modeled after the Basilica of Constantine in Rome, the grandeur of Old Penn Station gave it the nickname "the Temple of Transportation." Gibbs passed away in 1940, well before his most famous project was torn down in 1964 to make way for the new Penn Station.
