Biographic Sketch:
	
Henk Busscher is Professor and Head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the 
University of Groningen in the Netherlands.  His research interests center on: the physico-
chemistry of the interactions of proteins, cells, and microorganisms with materials; biomaterials 
associated infections and their prevention; and biomaterials implant retrieval for microbiological 
and surface analyses.  He is Editor-in-Chief for the Elsevier journal Colloids and Surfaces B: 
Biointerfaces.   He has supervised more than 45 theses and is author or co-author on over 400 
publications.
