Obtaining SAS Software
You can obtain SAS 9.4 from our server, or borrow the installation kit from Hanlon Fianancial Systems Lab. The kit supports only Windows operation system, including Windows 7, 8 and 8.1
To access the shared folder on our server:
1. If you are off campus, you have to set up VPN first. Please refer to the tutorial from Stevens IT department:
- For windows 7: https://sit.teamdynamix.com/TDClient/KB/ArticleDet?ID=807
- For windows 8: https://sit.teamdynamix.com/TDClient/KB/ArticleDet?ID=2201
2. After setting up VPN, or if you are using the campus wired/wireless connection, you are able to access the shared folder: \\FSCWINSRV02\sas
- For windows 7: https://sit.teamdynamix.com/TDClient/KB/ArticleDet?ID=837
- For windows 8: https://sit.teamdynamix.com/TDClient/KB/ArticleDet?ID=1134
Please use the domain name 'campus' and a backslash prior to your usename when logging onto the shared folder, for example: campus\username
3.Copy and paste SAS 9.4 folder to you computer.

Update SAS License
Every year SAS issues us a new license file. The users need to update their file to continue using SAS. And when you the SAS installation cannot run, please browse the updated SAS license file in order to continue.
We will upload the new files on a folder accessible only by current students at Stevens Institute of Technology. If you are outside campus, please connect to Stevens VPN in order to access the folder.
- For 2016-2017: Access the shared folder "\\FSCWINSRV02\sas\SAS_Update_License_2016-2017" with your campus domain credentials (Click My computer -> Map Network -> Input the folder path above -> OK -> use "CAMPUS\stevens_username" and myStevens password to login)
- Find the correct folder according to your SAS version (9.3 or 9.4)
- Find the instruction file according to your systems(x32 or x64)
- Find the correct license basing on your systems(x32 or x64) and PC(Sever or Workstation), copy to your local PC.
- In your own computer, go to Start -> All Programs -> SAS -> Unitilities -> Renew SAS Software.
- For example, SAS9.3 should browse the txt file "SAS93_9BCK8T_70129144_Win_Wrkstn.txt" or "SAS93_9BCK8T_70129145_Win_X64_Wrkstn.txt", click Next. (Normally, we are using personal laptop with 64bit system. So the file should be "SAS93_9B32JC_70129145_Win_X64_Wrkstn.txt")
- For the folder where SAS was installed, browse it to be "<SASHome>/SASFoundation/9.3" (path might be different on different computer)
- Then click renew.
Or if you cannot install SAS:
- Copy the updated license folder to your local PC.
- In the install page, you need to browse to the updated license folder.
- After that, the panel will show the license details (expiration data...).
- You are able to continue installation.

3. SAS Enterprise Miner Workstation 13.2 - Fix the error when starting a new project:
When you create a new project and see the error message related to "....server...localhost:0...", please follow the procedure here:
- Go to "C:/Windows/System32/drivers/etc" -> copied "hosts" file to desktop.
- Use notepad edit "hosts" file on desktop -> add one line at the top 127.0.0.1 localhost <hostname>.<primary dns suffix> <hostname>
- In that line, the "hostname" and "primary dns suffix" need to be changed to your own information. (You can go to cmd -> type "ipconfig /all" -> the first 2 lines should be the hostname and primary dns suffix)
- After changing it, save it as "hosts" on desktop (the file name should include double quote).
- Copy the file back to "C:/Windows/System32/drivers/etc" and replace the old one.
- Restart the computer and try again.
If it still does not work, please go to SAS Support and contact SAS support team directly.
