PhD Chemistry, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia PA
BSc Chemistry, Universidad Autonoma de Puebla
Dr. Miguel Angel Mendez Polanco is a chemist interested in various problems at the interface of Chemistry, Physics, and Materials Science.
He earned his PhD at the University of Pennsylvania and performed postdoctoral work at MIT (MechE), and also obtained Teaching Certificates from both institutions. His work includes computational modelling of materials (bulk, surfaces, and interfaces) for the study of their structure/electronic properties with focus in renewable energy-related problems, catalytic processes, and design principles of electronic devices.
He is also passionate about education and an advocate for increasing representation and inclusion of historically under-represented students in STEM, first-generation college students, and broadly a science enthusiast.
He has taught at various institutions and is excited to share this blend of experiences with Stevens' students and colleagues.
