Fraternity Programs

ADOPT-A-SCHOOL

What is the difference between a philanthropy and community service? Many Greek organizations engage in philanthropy events. These usually last a day, sometimes up to a week. They usually involve some fundraising and sometimes involve making a special one-time trip. But do you get to see the impact of the work you've done? Do you get to find out how that money was put to use? What did you actually learn from the experience?

Delta Tau Delta has started to focus on education, literacy, and youth. After much thought and investigation, the Fraternity chose Adopt-A-School, an existing program of the National Interfraternity Conference (NIC). The goal of Adopt-A-School is to provide for the formation of one-on-one relationships between college students and elementary school children. Shrinking school budgets, poor teacher-student ratios, and a lack of positive role models contribute to the need for a program such as this.

D.T.A.A. - DELT'S TALK ABOUT ALCOHOL

The program provides recent, accurate, objective and relevant information which, if used, will greatly reduce one's risk for alcohol-related problems throughout life. It is our firm belief that NO ONE can CONTROL the drinking choices of any individual, but we can provide the means by which our members and chapters can reduce their risk. DTAA is not about alcohol awareness, drinking and driving, or dealing with alcoholism. Rather, it clarifies and provides an alcohol abuse prevention guideline to reduce risk.

Delta Tau Delta is taking a leadership position in the Greek world. It is the first time a program as intensive as this has been taught to fraternity chapters at the grass roots level. No one can promise to eliminate all alcohol-related problems in any setting. However, there is every reason to believe that "Delts Talking About Alcohol" offers an excellent approach to reducing alcohol-related problems in Delt chapters through education. Your chapter's part in this program is to help Delta Tau Delta lead the way in alcohol abuse prevention among college students.
