Welcome to Stevens CS

Welcome to the Computer Science Department at Stevens Institute of Technology. Information technology is an exciting and fast-changing field, and your undergraduate major is your once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to obtain the skills set that will last you throughout your career. Given that the state of the technology is changing so fast, you must be prepared to constantly learn new things to stay current. It is not an exaggeration to say that the most important thing that you will learn as an undergraduate is: how to learn! Computer science is highly valued as a discipline because, at its core, it teaches fundamental problem-solving skills. It is no accident that some of the most successful U.S. companies of the last half century were established by computer scientists. We in the Stevens computer science department pride ourselves on programs that combine the rigorous development of problem-solving skills with basic business skills. The latter are learned through project-oriented courses that sometimes involve real companies acting as clients for student projects.
