Card and Board Gaming

Failure to follow any of these rules may lead to ejection from the convention.

  • No selling of personal cards and/or other gaming paraphernalia on CPAC premises.
  • Please remember: It's just a game.
  • If there is a dispute over rules, please ask a staffer for assistance.
  • All games are available to attendees, unless already being used by another person.
  • Attendees are allowed only one game at a time in order to allow other people to play.
  • While we are all here to have fun, please be aware of your surroundings.
  • A staffer has the right to take away a game from you if your actions are deemed inappropriate or hostile to another attendee.
  • Cards in the Sandbox Yu-Gi-Oh! game are not to be taken outside of the Card and Game Area.

  • Magic Draft Rules

Each person is given a booster pack to open and chooses a card from it and passes the rest on. The first pack is passed to the left and is alternated right, left, right for the other three packs. Every card in the pack counts as a card to take, so even the land counts as a card to choose.

After the four rounds of passing, players have one hour to construct a 40 card deck from their drafted cards and provided lands. Because the cards are drafted, there are no restrictions as to what cards you can use in your deck. The players will be paired randomly with their opponents, then continue up the tournament tree.

The tournament will be single elimination and consist of three, 45 minute rounds where the best two out of three matches wins the round to advance. If time runs out, the player with the highest life total wins the match. To determine who goes first, use rock paper scissors or just agree on someone. The loser of the match will pick the turn order of the next match.

There is a $10 entry fee as everyone will get to keep the cards they draft. First place will receive an additional 3 boosters; second place will receive an additional 1 booster.

Players have one hour to peruse our sandbox of Yu-Gi-Oh! commons and construct a 40 card deck, following the usual three card limit. The players will then be paired randomly with their opponents, then continue up their tournament tree.

The tournament will be single elimination and consist of three, 45 minute, 8000 life point rounds where the best two out of three matches wins the round to advance. If time runs out, the player with the highest life total wins the match. To determine who goes first, use rock paper scissors or just agree on someone. The loser of the match will pick the turn order of the next match.

The prize for first place is a $25 gift card. If there are enough people, the tournament will be split into two 8 man tournaments, with a prize for each first place winner.
