The Biosafety Protocol has been developed as part of Stevens Institute of Technology's Biosafety program.
The Exposure Control Plan (ECP) has been developed to eliminate or minimize employee exposure to bloodborne pathogens. The Plan was developed by Stevens Environmental Health and Safety in accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.
OSHA'S bloodborne pathogens standard protects employees who work in occupations where they are at risk of exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials. The standard requires employers to develop written documents to explain how they will implement each standard, provide training to employees, and protect the health and safety of their workers.
The full text of the OSHA standard, including the requirement for the written documents, is found in 29 CFR 1910.1030. You can access the full text of this standard through the OSHA website (www.osha.gov).
