Mahmood Sohrabi Carleton University, Ottawa Tuesday, October 13, 2009 3:00pm Kidde 104 Abstract: In this talk we will discuss certain aspects of the elementary theory (first order theory) of finitely generated nilpotent groups. In particular we will provide an algebraic characterization of groups elementarily equivalent to a free nilpotent group. Some related concepts and problems such as limits of free nilpotent groups and possible applications to large scale geometry of nilpotent groups will also be discussed. |
