  • To take a screenshot in Windows, simply press the "prt sc" print screen button on your keyboard. It is usually located on the top right corner of your keyboard and if using a laptop, you may need to hold down the "fn" function key. This copies your entire desktop area to the clipboard, which must be pasted into an image edited program (such as Paint) in order to save the image.
  • To take a screenshot of your current window, press Alt+Print Screen.
  • The Snipping Tool program (All Programs -> Accessories), allows users to take either free-form, rectangular, window, or full-screen screenshots of the desktop. Once a screenshot has been taken, you can annotate, email, save as an HTML page, or save it as a jpeg.
  • Alternatively, many third party programs exist to take more complicated screenshots. Jing, which can be downloaded here, is one free program which accomplishes this.
