Windows XP Service Pack 3

The third service pack for Windows XP made some changes to the networking configuration. The 802.1x configuration now resembles Windows 7's configuration.

Changes to 802.1x Wired

Service Pack 3 now requires the service 'Wired AutoConfig' to be enabled.

  1. Open Control Panel
  2. Double-Click on the Administrative Tools icon (If you cannot find the icon make sure you're viewing in classic mode, the link is on the left hand side.)
  3. Double-Click the Services icon
  4. Scroll down the list and double-click on the Wired AutoConfig service
  5. Click the Start button
